Well,  we have had to cut down on our trips this summer because of the high gas prices!  Took a road trip last Sunday and it cost us over $80 for one tank of gas!  I guess we’re going to have to be smarter on how we travel this year; for instance we have decided that for our trip to Colorado camping this year, we’re going to use Uncle Sams refund check to pay for gas.  After all; it was our money to begin with, might as well use it for some fun right?  Enough of my complaining.  Staying local this weekend, I loaded up the dogs and we headed for a drive down ole’ Route 66.  I call it our “small town park” tour.  We stopped at all the small towns along our drive and let the dogs out to play at the local softball fields.  They love to get out and run along the area, and it’s great for me because the area is completely fenced in, so no worry that they can get out into traffic.  On our 170 mile trek, we stopped at six places, including a local lake and did some swimming.  It was a relaxing day of travel and exercise, and they slept like babies last night.  Even though it was a somewhat expensive trip (with gas prices); sometimes you just gotta get away! Try the small town park trip in your hometown; you get to see some pretty amazing stuff when you get off the main highway.  Who wants to look at billboard signs, overused pit stops and other cars anyway?

Till next time….

Well…we jut got back from our big backpacking weekend in SE Oklahoma!  We had a great time and the weather couldn’t have been better!  Sunny and 60′s, 70′s all weekend.  Everything is starting to “spring”, the flowers, trees and grass, and I must say none too soon!  If you have never been hiking, camping, or backpacking in SE Oklahoma, you are in for a treat.  Check out our photos, bet you will be surprised that this is Oklahoma!  The best time of the year to visit is Fall, Winter and Spring…it gets really hot down here in the Summer. Fred, Buddy and Rusty were great hikers and campers, they enjoy the outdoors so much!

It was a sad time when we had to make that drive home; but we will be back real soon.  Want to stay here?  Check out our site at www.campingpet.com . There are campgrounds waiting to see you in this area.

Happy day and Happy Adventures!
